This Week: 8/8 through 8/14

By admin in Weekly Preview

Monday in Video Tutorials – At some point in every painting it’s important to step back and evaluate the composition, values, color choices, etc. Tomorrow, watch as Cheng-Khee Chee demonstrates that process with one of his watercolor cityscapes.

Tuesday in Announcements – Recently I had a discussion with a reader about my ad policies (he felt that EE’s reviews were biased based on who advertised and because of my affiliation with Foliotwist) and naturally this bothered me.

So, while it’s not strictly art-related, on Tuesday I’ll just lay it all out there and explain how I choose advertisers and why I think those companies are worthwhile. Feel free to skip it if you’re not interested, but I’ve just got to get this off my chest. :)

Wednesday in Featured Artists – Drop in mid-week to see some excellent small still lifes by Mark McCullen, and as always, feel free to submit your own artwork to be featured as well.

Thursday in Artist Interviews – Alyice Edrich and Vicki O’Dell discuss the benefits of “Green Crafting” as well as some of the challenges of creating new artwork out of repurposed thrift-store finds.

This Friday I’ll be working on a project of my own and unfortunately won’t have time to post. If you’re craving something to read over the weekend, however, take a look at the art tutorials archive – there’s a lot of great stuff there you may not have seen yet.
