This Week: 5/2 through 5/8

Published May 2nd 2010

Monday in Video Tutorials - Tomorrow, John Salminen will be demonstrating his watercolor masking techniques while passing along several tips for creating strong visual pathways and better compositions. Even if you’re not a watercolor painter you’ll definitely find something useful in this video.

Tuesday in Motivation - Beauty is always around us, although sometimes it takes a little searching to find it. On Tuesday, Doris Glovier will share several instances where she captured small moments of beauty despite the circumstances.

Wednesday in Featured Artists - Angela Emsen-West’s richly colored paintings tend to resemble oils more than watercolors they truly are. Drop in on Wednesday to see for yourself, and don’t forget to submit your own artwork to be featured as well.

Thursday in Artist Interviews - Alyice Edrich and Cathy Horner (creator of fantastic vintage-looking collages) will be discussing how to achieve texture, add dimensionality, incorporate various types of papers, and lots of other great details about the entire collage process.

Friday in Art Marketing Tips - At the end of the week, come by EmptyEasel and learn how to add Facebook’s new “like” button to your art blog. It’s actually a pretty simple process and, with Facebook’s ever-increasing popularity, probably not a bad idea from a marketing standpoint.
