NOTE: The following promotion has ended. Thanks to everyone who participated, a new pricing structure for Foliotwist has been chosen.
Not surprisingly, things have been pretty hectic over at Foliotwist HQ ever since we launched our “Choose Your own Price” promotion on May 1st.
In fact, we’ve received so many questions about it that I thought I should take a minute to answer the most common ones right here:
1. “Why are you really letting us choose the price?”
Simple. Our main goal is to discover what artists (like yourself) think a Foliotwist website is worth, as well as to give a discount to anybody who couldn’t afford the $45/month price tag before.
And of course, since we have no way of knowing how it’s all going to turn out, we’re limiting this promotion/experiment to the month of May only.
2. “Is it an introductory price? How long does it last?”
No, this is absolutely NOT an introductory price—once you’ve signed up for your price (whatever it may be) that’s the amount you’ll pay per month for as long as you stay with us.
We’re not going to hook you with a bargain, and then raise your price later. As long as you sign up before May 31st, that’ll be your price for life.
3. “It sounds too good to be true. . . what’s the catch?”
There’s no catch—although we do ask that you submit a “reasonable” price.
If you’re only looking at this opportunity as a way of asking for $0/month, or some other unrealistically low price, then yes, it’s too good to be true, and we will have to turn you down or suggest a slightly higher price that we can live with.
4. “So what’s the lowest price you’ll accept?”
Unfortunately, that’s the ONE question I can’t answer.
You see, as soon as we say “$15/month is the lowest” or “$35/month is the lowest” it immediately influences your perception of our value, as well as the price you’d be willing to pay.
We realize there’s a very natural impulse to try and figure out the BEST possible deal you could get, but that’s not the point of this experiment. The point is for YOU to try us out, and then tell us honestly what you think a fair price would be, based on the value of what you see in front of you.
5. “How should I decide on my final price?”
That’s a great question. . . and really, there’s no right or wrong answer.
One method, of course, would be to look at other art website providers and see what the overall price range is. Then pick a price a little over or a little under.
Another option is to break it down a little further and ask yourself, “How much am I willing to pay each day for this? A dollar? 50 cents?” And then multiply that amount by 30 to get your monthly price.
A third solution would be to simply take a discount off of our standard price of $45/month. (Not my favorite, but hey, it works.)
However you want to do it, I highly recommend finishing our free 10-day trial before thinking too much about price.
I realize it’ll only take you a few minutes to get a feel for how everything on your website works. . . but remember, we’ll also be sending you a couple Traffic Booster lessons during your free trial, and until you see what Traffic Booster is all about, you really haven’t experienced Foliotwist. :)
As always, if you have any questions I haven’t answered, I’d love to hear them! Just me a quick note, or get in touch over at Foliotwist.com.
