This Week: 6/8 through 6/14

Published on Jun. 8th 2008

Monday in General Art Advice - There’s one thing that I’ve noticed always seems to give me a burst of artistic “adrenaline” or inspiration—tomorrow I’ll talk about what that is and why it might work for you too.

Tuesday in Art Movements - Donovan Gauvreau recently sent in an article discussing the changing landscape of photography which I’ll be posting in full on Tuesday. Remember, if you’d like to submit your own article or blog post to be published on EmptyEasel, you can—just check out the article submission page for more info.

Wednesday in Featured Artists - This week’s featured artist is Cliff Warner, an English painter who creates beautiful figurative pieces that lean towards abstraction even though the figures themselves are quite realistically drawn. Drop by on Wednesday and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Thursday in Artist Polls - Do you primarily paint from real life, from photographs, or from your imagination? Take the poll and see all the results this Thursday.

Friday in Selling Art Online - At the end of the week I’ll be announcing a special competition (open to all artists) with some rather significant prizes attached to it. If you’re interested in building a web presence and selling your art online, make sure to come back on Friday for the rest of the details—you won’t want to miss it!

Finally, I want to give a big “thank you” to everyone who applied for the new writing positions at EmptyEasel.com. At this point I’ve whittled the list down to four applicants and I hope to have everything settled within the next few weeks.

Stay tuned. . .

Well, this is one poll that didn't take off. . . apparently new year's resolutions are passé. I'll try to keep my questions strictly art-related from now on. : ) As for myself, I've only made two resolutions this year, and actually, they're really more like goals. If you'd like to vote, you st. . . read more

There are a lot of eBooks out there which claim to give good advice and/or good instructions for selling art online. Some of them are complete scams, others are overpriced, most of them don't give you enough information to really help, and still others simply recycle or steal information from . . . read more
This week's poll is on art prints and original artwork. Some artists are totally against making reproductions of their paintings, while other artists just want to sell prints of their work over and over again (and don't care that much about selling the originals.)
