This Week: 5/6 through 5/12

Published on May 5th 2007

Monday - Just recently I got a great email from artist Jim Flanagan (reviewed here) with some insight about organic and inorganic oil paint. He’s agreed to let me re-publish that email here on EE, and actually, I’d love to publish more articles written by any of you as well. Send me a message if you‘re interested.

Tuesday - I’m taking a break from reviewing submitted artwork this week, and instead I’ll be featuring a painter I find online myself. (Just like old times.) But by all means, keep submitting your artwork! I look at everything that comes in, and some of it does make it onto EmptyEasel.

Wednesday - You know, it’s amazing what’s online these days. Coming up on Wednesday I’ll feature a new(ish) art community with a twist. If you often find yourself bored at work or desperate to doodle, you won’t want to miss it.

Thursday - I’ll be writing about a fourth color in my color series this Thursday. So far I’ve covered Green, Red, and Blue, and coming up this week is the color Yellow.

Friday - After receiving a question from a reader about how to digitally “stitch together” segments of scanned art in Photoshop (his painting was larger than his scanner) I’ve decided to go through the process step-by-step myself and write up a tutorial. If you have large artwork that you’d like to sell online but only have a regular-sized scanner, then this is the article for you.

Saturday - Back to the drawing board. I’ll try to mix up something new and interesting in my weekly cartoon. Maybe even use my new program, Corel Painter. . .

Last week I kicked off my SEO for artist’s series with an article on how to describe your art for Google. In this article I’ll explain why getting other websites to link to your art blog or portfolio is extremely important. Let’s start off with a simple scenario: you’re an oil painter and you’. . . read more
About a week and a half ago I came across what I think is a very smart art marketing technique used by Chris Bolmeier. Chris is a fellow painter and blogger (she's actually written for EmptyEasel in the past) whose articles are often just as fun to read as they are insightful. Visit her art bl. . . read more
