This Week: 2/4 through 2/10

Published on Feb. 3rd 2007

Monday - Ever since starting EmptyEasel.com I realized there was more to say about art than I could ever cover by myself. So for the past few months I’ve been working on a solution and tomorrow you’ll see firsthand what it is.

Tuesday - On Tuesday I’ll post a review of OriginalArtOnline.com, another website where artists can sell their original work without a commission fee. Additionally, if you know of a good site that I haven’t reviewed, contact me and I’ll be happy to take a look.

Wednesday - Rembrandt van Rijn is one of the most well-known portrait painters who ever lived. On Wednesday I’ll be sharing a brief article about Rembrandt’s life and work, and show a few of his self-portraits too.

Thursday - This week’s featured painter is Jove Wang. As always, if you’re interested in being reviewed, send me a digital file of one of your paintings and check out my simple submission rules.

Friday - If you’re planning on uploading artwork to Imagekind or Sistino to sell as prints, then you‘ll definitely want the color of your digital files to be as accurate as possible. On Friday I’ll show you how to color-correct your images, with step-by-step instructions on some of the most important tools in Photoshop.

Saturday - I’ve really enjoyed using my new Wacom Graphire drawing tablet for the last two Saturday Cartoons on EmptyEasel.com. Check back in over the weekend to see another example of my “cartooning skills” in action.

Recently an email was sent out to Artist Rising members that listed some changes planned for the coming months. I thought those changes were worth a mention, especially since my last post on Artist Rising was a little open-ended, so here they are (along with my analysis.) The most obvious diff. . . read more
This week's poll is on art prints and original artwork. Some artists are totally against making reproductions of their paintings, while other artists just want to sell prints of their work over and over again (and don't care that much about selling the originals.)
