BIG thank you to everyone who took our survey this past week! :)

If you didn’t see that survey (or didn’t get a chance to take it) we basically asked for feedback on two different apps that we’re considering building in 2018.

Here are the two app ideas we had:

The first app would solve every problem artists face while taking photos of their art. We have a LOT of ideas for that, but at the very least it would color correct, crop, and save multiple sizes of your images, so you could quickly add artwork to your portfolio, social media, or anywhere else.

The second app would be an organizational tool for keeping track of your artwork—both where it is physically as well as every other detail about the artwork (like title, medium, dimensions, price, series, and more). Looking up information about your art would be simple, fast, and (ideally) done with voice commands to keep your hands free for other things—like painting!

Survey says. . .

The survey was open for about a week. We asked artists to rate how much they liked each idea, on a scale from 1 (Not interested) to 4 (I need this app!)

Here are the results, with the camera app in green and the organizational tool in blue.

comparison-chart

I had to cut out some of the numbers to combine both charts into one, but it looks to me like the data is pretty clear—so we’re moving ahead with the camera app!

Here’s our next step (and yours too, if you want!)

Over the next few days I’ll be creating a Google Group to chat with artists about what they want from this app. If you’d like to help (and maybe get your hands on it sooner rather than later) please let me know!

Just send me a quick message via my contact form (or email me directly at emptyeasel@gmail.com) and I’ll reply with a link to join the group!

You’ll be able to give feedback on which features you like (or dislike) and generally help us make this app perfect for you. Basically, if you’re at all interested in a better way to take photos of your art, I’d love to hear from you. :)

Thanks so much for participating in this process. . . stay tuned for more updates and announcements as we go!
