Looking Ahead to 2010. . .

Published Dec. 31st 2009

Well folks, 2009 is at an end. And I for one, am very excited for the new year. :)

I don’t have a long post ready for today, but I do want to whet your appetite for some of the things that are coming up in 2010 on EmptyEasel.

First of all, we’ll be adding another writer to our ranks in January who’s going to bring a lot of experience with the Blogger platform to the table. I already know that some of her articles will consist of setting up and maintaining a free Blogger blog (which is something I really don’t know much about since I use Wordpress) so I’m looking forward to those for sure.

She’ll also be doing some artist interviews along with other articles, and you’ll get to meet her sometime in the next few weeks.

Second (and this is big!) starting next month I’ll begin posting short art videos on a regular basis here at EmptyEasel. I’ve been wanting to do this for about a year now and finally got the chance to team up with Creative Catalyst Productions and get the ball rolling.

The videos will consist of art tutorials for various kinds of mediums, and you’ll be able to find them all in a new “Video” category under the main “Art Tutorials” section of EE.

I have a few other art-related projects I’d like to get off the ground in 2010, but with EmptyEasel and foliotwist taking up most of my time, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and my mouth shut about those for now. :)

And speaking of foliotwist, if you don’t have an art website of your own yet, this is the perfect time to get one. As always, our yearly plan comes with a two month’s discount and a 10-day free trial—so make sure to check that out if you’re interested.

That’s all for now. Have a safe and happy New Year, everyone. . . I’ll see you in 2010!

Finally, my "big project" is finished! It’s been a crazy day with a lot going on, but foliotwist.com is finally live and online! Since I’ve kept it a complete secret up until launch, here’s a quick (mostly visual) overview of what it does. . .read more
Today's article is another blogging/SEO/web-related post, so if you're here today looking for art tips and tutorials, feel free to skip it. On the other hand, if you have your own art blog through Blogger, Google's free blogging service (or through any other blogging program) you'll probably f. . . read more
ArtBistro.com is a fairly new online community for artists and designers that offers much more than you'd expect from a typical internet gallery or art forum. Yes, at ArtBistro you can display your art, and there IS a discussion forum—but you'll also find a decent number of "How-to" articles,. . . read more
I couldn't help but notice that the recent review of CafePress on EmptyEasel was a less than an enthusiastic endorsement. Its main competitor, Zazzle.com, was rated slightly better for fine art reproductions but still not ideal. I agree with both reviews in some respects—neither site is quite . . . read more
If you’re an art blogger like me, you know there’s nothing worse than putting your heart and soul into writing a great blog article, or posting a new work of art up for sale, only to watch it languish in obscurity when no one comes by to take a look. And to be honest, that's just part of being. . . read more
