This week I’m very excited to announce the addition of two more writers to EmptyEasel’s permanent writing staff—Gordie Carver and Renée Phillips.
You’ll get to know both of them over the coming months, but in the meantime, here’s a short introduction:
Gordie Carver is an award winning artist, writer, instructor, and mother of three living in the northern mid-west. After years of painting on traditional canvases, assorted papers, walls, and automobiles, Gordie began using canvases that were already provided by nature—specifically, gourds, rocks, and wood.
Gordie will be contributing how-to articles and tutorials for several lesser-known mediums (such as pyrography and gourd art) as well as articles of inspiration and motivation for artists.
Renée Phillips is the founder of Manhatten Arts International, the author of several books, and a regular writer for Art Calendar Magazine. Known as "The Artrepreneur Coach," Renée works to inspire creative individuals to reach their greatest potential in both art and business.
Renée will focus on sharing general art advice, motivation, and art marketing tips.
I’m thrilled to have both of these talented individuals join us at EmptyEasel.com, and I hope you are too. :)
With new writers always come new opinions, fresh insights, and a wider variety of techniques—I can’t wait to see what Gordie and Renée have in store for us!

I don’t think I’m wrong in saying that most artists would rather be making art, than trying to market art. And yet both are necessary parts of being a professional artist. For some artists, a gallery or agent will take over the marketing/selling side of things, allowing the artist to just focu. . .
