This Week: 7/27 through 8/2

Monday in General Art Advice - Tomorrow I’ll be posting a great article by Denise Telep which discusses the professional mindset that any full-time artist needs to have. If you’re looking to turn your art into a successful career, this is a must-read.

Tuesday in Drawing Tips - Come back for another beginning drawing tutorial from Paula Lee, this time on drawing correct proportions. She’ll be explaining how to see, measure, and replicate accurate dimensions on paper.

Wednesday in Featured Artists - Dianne Mize is a former high school art teacher whose softly painted, impressionist artwork is simply a joy to behold. Drop in on Wednesday to see a few of her paintings and learn more about her work.

Thursday in General Art Advice - This week’s reader-submitted article (written by Angela Fehr) covers seven practical benefits to marketing your art locally , rather than online. I think she’s right on the mark with this article, and I hope you’ll check it out.

Friday in Photoshop Tricks - If you’ve already downloaded GIMP (a free alternative to Photoshop) for your PC or Mac, then don’t miss Margot Dinardi’s first GIMP tutorial showing how to get your images ready for the web.

(And if you’re wondering, I will be creating a new category for GIMP tutorials soon, but for now I’m just including them under Photoshop Tricks.)
