This Week on EE: Change is Good, right?

Published on Jul. 28th 2007

Well, the next few days will be a little bit different from normal, but hopefully in a good way. Here’s what’s happening:

On Wednesday (August 1st) I’ll be completely upgrading EmptyEasel.com with a new design I’ve been working on during the past few months. I think it will be a BIG improvement in both usability and aesthetics.

Since computer programming isn’t really my forte I’m going to be working on this upgrade all week, and unfortunately that means no new articles until the 5th of August.

If you come across something that isn’t working quite right during the week, my apologies. I’ll do my best to keep all the old articles available during this transition, but there may be a few temporary glitches until the upgrade is complete.

If you’re wondering why I’m redesigning, one major reason is that I’d like to make EmptyEasel more helpful to artists who are considering selling their art online.

More specifically, I’m adding a new section on EmptyEasel called the “EE Art Market” which will contain comparison charts and traffic stats for several art-selling websites available today.

I’m pretty excited about that, and I hope you will be too.

There will also be more ways to get involved with EmptyEasel, including adding your own expert advice or art techniques, AND ways that you can use EmptyEasel to help drive traffic to your own artwork online.

You’ll see what I mean as the new design goes up.

Check in throughout the week to see my progress if you’d like, and stay tuned for more updates on the new features!

All the best,
-Dan

PS. I’ve also decided to have a full week of featured artists starting August 6th so send in your artwork if you’d like to be considered.

Finally, my "big project" is finished! It’s been a crazy day with a lot going on, but foliotwist.com is finally live and online! Since I’ve kept it a complete secret up until launch, here’s a quick (mostly visual) overview of what it does. . .read more
Artwanted.com is one of the oldest art-selling websites I’ve found—it’s been around for 8 years (which is forever online!) and it seems to have quite a few members. However, after checking it out completely, I’m not sure it’s the site I’d recommend if you really are serious about selling your. . . read more
This timeline is very incomplete, so feel free to send me your suggestions. I'll be adding more entries on a regular basis. 1995-1998 - Allwall.com, AllPosters.com and Art.com each launch separate e-commerce sites to sell fine art prints and posters. They are the first websites (other than eBa. . . read more
EmptyEasel gets quite a few visitors via Google, and I'll admit I'm always interested in the keywords and search terms that have led them here. Most are expected—phrases like how to sell art, or selling art online; as well as mixing colors, oil painting tips. . . things like that. But once in . . . read more
It’s good to look back, isn't it? To take stock of where you’ve been and how you’ve changed? Well, with 2007 ending tonight, I thought I’d share some things I learned during the past year. 1. I learned to use technology to help manage my time. This year I really couldn't put things off "until . . . read more
