This Week: 9/5 through 9/11

By admin in Weekly Preview

Monday is Labor Day here in the US, so I won’t be publishing a new article tomorrow. Instead, I’ll be busy putting the final touches on a big new feature for Foliotwist, which I hope to launch for our current artists this week. If all goes well, I’ll post more information about that very soon.

Tuesday in Announcements – Fellow blogger Chris Guillebeau (from the Art of Non-conformity) is publishing his first book on Tuesday, and I was lucky enough to get an advance copy. I read it and loved it, and this Tuesday I’m going to take a moment to explain why you should check it out too. :)

Wednesday in Video Tutorials – I’ll admit I don’t know much about making textured paper, but I was blown away by this week’s video. In just 5 minutes Carrie Burns Brown was able to demonstrate several paper-making techniques with tissue paper, coffee grounds, and string that are a must-see. Don’t miss it!

Thursday in Featured Artists – Alan Bedding is a landscape and seascape photographer who also happens to overlay his own brand of digital magic on every photo. Drop by for that on Thursday, or feel free to submit your own artwork to be featured as well.

Friday in Artist Interviews – Finishing out the week, Alyice Edrich and Laura Zarrin will be discussing what it takes to be an illustrator today, from working with art directors and authors to deciding on what materials to use.
