This Week: 6/1 through 6/7

By admin in Weekly Preview

If you drop into EmptyEasel this week you might see a little less going on than normal. The reason for that is (drumroll please) . . .

I’ve decided to add a few permanent, paid writers to EmptyEasel.com.

It’s kind of a big step, but I’ve been thinking about this for a few months, and it just seems like the right thing to do. I want to improve the variety and depth of articles available, and since there’s money from the ads on EE already. . . why not?

The only problem is, I’m not sure who these new writers will be yet. : )

So starting tomorrow, instead of writing articles, I’ll be posting virtural “help wanted” ads all over the internet. Before the end of the week I’m determined to find at least one, maybe two, artist/writers who really know their stuff.

Actually, I have a sneaking suspicion that some of YOU might like the job—if so, there are a few paragraphs farther down with information on how to apply.

But for now, back to your originally scheduled programming. . .

In the “deals for artists” department:

Remember the $50 off smARTist™ Premium package discount I mentioned last week? Well that discount has been extended to June 15th!

I also found out a bit more about it, and wanted to pass along what I learned: it’s not a workshop or event you travel too, instead the package includes 15 audio sessions with 13 art-career experts and professional artists, along with their written handouts and full transcripts of the audio (to print out, read, & highlight).

In other words, it’s kind of like attending a full art marketing and career-building conference from home. If you’re interested, there’s a lot more information at www.smartist-telesummit.com.

How to apply for a writer’s position on EmptyEasel.com:

Send an email to emptyeasel@gmail.com with the words “writing job” in the subject line. Include a resume of any writing and/or artistic experience you have, along with an attached sample of your writing (should be 300+ words). Prior or current blogging experience is a definite plus, but not required.

Just so you know what you’re getting into, I’m looking for artists who are willing to write 4-5 art-related articles per month. You’ll brainstorm ideas at the beginning of each month with me (via email), and then write one article per week throughout the month.

This is a paid position, but obviously not full-time work. Writers will receive $15-$20 per article, as well as a few perks (like a sitewide link on EmptyEasel.)

I’ll respond to every applicant by the end of the week, so you won’t have to wait around wondering if I got your email or not.

That’s about it—I hope I’ll hear from some of you soon!
