How Many Artists Have an Advertising Budget? Poll Results Inside

By admin in Misc > Artist Polls

I’m not exactly sure how to analyze the results of this poll because there aren’t a conclusive number of responses so far. My guess, however (and what the numbers do indicate) is that most artists DON’T have an advertising or marketing budget.

Here’s the poll question, and please feel free to vote if you haven’t already.

Do you have an "advertising budget" for selling your art? Why or why not? Feel free to add your own answer if you'd like.

I’ll admit I’m probably in the same boat as many of you. When I need flyers or business cards (or any other promotional materials) I just spend whatever I need to at the time. But I don’t think that’s necessarily the best way to go about it.

For most of us, art is either our livelihood or we’d like it to be. It’s a business. And I think that a little advertising—and some money put aside each year for just that purpose—is a smart idea.

I’ll keep an eye on these poll results and try to revisit them down the road. As some of you know, I’ve just started an experiment with Google Adwords to see what I can learn about online advertising, so I’m sure this will be a recurring theme for a while.
