This Week: 12/30 through 1/5

By admin in Weekly Preview

Monday in General Art Advice – With 2007 drawing to an end, I’ve decided to take a moment to write down some of the things I’ve learned over the past year. (Actually, I’m a bit nervous about this because I don’t know if I’ll end up with a neatly ordered list, an incoherent ramble, or—worst case scenario—a blank page.) Whatever the outcome, I’ll publish it on Monday.

Tuesday in Art Websites – Do you have a few art blogs you keep going back to time after time? On Tuesday I’m going to post my personal list of 8 must-read art blogs for 2008 and I’d like to encourage you to do the same.

This isn’t one of those “tagging” memes that pop up occasionally around the internet, so please don’t feel like your blog has to be on someone else’s list for you to post your own list. I just think it’d be a fun way for all of us in the art blogosphere (artosphere?) to kick off the new year.

Wednesday in Featured Artists – This week’s artist is a daily painter, illustrator, and designer all rolled into one—and she creates some truly exquisite paintings that I know you won’t want to miss. Get the full scoop this Wednesday.

Thursday in Photoshop Tricks – About a year ago I wrote an article that explained how to photograph your paintings and other 2D artwork without distorting or skewing the edges—but the truth is, even if you know how, it’s not always an easy thing to do. The solution? Come back on Thursday and learn a few Photoshop tricks to fix those imperfect photos.

Friday in Art Opinion – OK, just for fun: how many new year’s resolutions have you made for 2008? Go ahead, count ‘em up and let the world know.

Have a happy new year!
