As many of you know, I started EmptyEasel.com a few months ago with the hope that it would make a positive impact on other artists around the world.
My goal was (and still is) to write free articles and tutorials about art and painting, in a clear and understandable manner.
I wanted anyone to be able to easily use the information on this website to grow and improve in their artistic journey, no matter their skill level or amount of previous training.
Even though it’s been less than three months I’ve already received a lot of positive feedback from many of you, and I’m honored to think that I’m accomplishing some of my purpose so soon.
But over that same period of time I’ve also been seriously thinking about how I can do more, and how I can encourage other artists to follow my example. Even if I wrote an article every day for the rest of my life, there’s absolutely no way I could cover all the nuances of the world of art by myself.
Plus, I’m really just an oil painter, and there are SO many other artistic mediums – sculpting, mixed media, watercolors, photography, ceramics, (to name just a few) that are comparatively under-represented online as well. It’s a shame, because online is where the young artists of today go to learn.
So after a lot of thinking, I decided to once again take a plunge.
I offered to set up a complete blogging website for a friend of a friend of mine; a mixed media artist named Stephanie, who I actually didn’t know very well before we started the process.
The website was called WeeklyMuse, and dealt with mixed media inspiration and techniques. We both learned a lot from it but ultimately Stephanie decided to move on to focus on other projects she was involved with.
From that experiment, however, I came to realize that there are many more artists out there who would jump at the chance to do something like that.
So I want to make the same offer to every artist who may be reading this right now. If you understand the value of your art training or experience, have a good grasp of your medium’s techniques, and would like to give something back; I’d love to hear from you.
It doesn’t matter what age you are or even how much computer training you have. That should actually be the least of your worries. I’ve learned a lot about the nuts and bolts of blogging from EmptyEasel, and I can handle that part for you, just like I did for Stephanie with WeeklyMuse.
I’ve actually been surprised how much I enjoy a little coding now and then. : ) But I understand that it’s not for everyone.
I’m not saying your blog will be perfect or even up to professional standards, but I won’t charge you anything for it either. I think the possibility of an artistic community, with fresh voices and diverse knowledge will be more than worth it.

It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? The ability to have a global impact, just from writing about something you know and love? But it’s not crazy; it’s completely possible – and I can’t tell you how incredible it is to be a part of it right now.
